Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 2026
Scholar Ghana ("we", "us", "our") operates a scholarship application and donation platform for Ghanaian students and their supporters. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how it is protected.
Information We Collect
- Account information: name, email address, and password (stored securely by our authentication provider, never in plain text) when you create an account.
- Application information: academic, personal, and financial-need details you submit as part of a scholarship application.
- Donation information: your email address, and optionally your name and a public message, when you make a donation. Payment card and Mobile Money details are handled entirely by our payment processor, Paystack — Scholar Ghana never receives or stores your full card number, PIN, or Mobile Money credentials.
- Usage information: basic technical data (such as browser type and pages visited) used to keep the platform secure and working correctly.
How We Use Your Information
- To operate your account, process scholarship applications, and communicate application status updates.
- To process donations and the scholarship application processing fee, issue receipts, and send confirmation emails.
- To publish scholarship winner announcements (only names and details a recipient or administrator has approved for public display).
- To maintain the security, integrity, and accountability of the platform, including audit records of administrative actions.
Anonymous Donations
You may donate without creating an account. Anonymous donations are recorded with only the information needed to process payment and deliver a receipt (your email, and optionally your name and message) and are never linked to any user account. If you choose to display your name publicly as a supporter, your donation amount is never shown.
Sharing of Information
We do not sell your personal information. Information is shared only with the service providers that make the platform work — our database and authentication provider (Supabase), our payment processor (Paystack), and our email delivery provider — solely to the extent necessary to provide the service.
Data Retention & Security
We retain account, application, and payment records for as long as needed to operate the platform, satisfy financial record-keeping obligations, and resolve disputes. Access to sensitive data is restricted to authorized administrators, and every payment is independently verified against Paystack's own records before being recorded as successful.
Your Choices
You may update your profile information at any time from your dashboard, and may contact us to request deletion of your account data, subject to any records we are required to keep for legal or financial reasons.
